WATER PRESSURE: Force per unit area exerted by the weight of water. Each 33 feet of sea water exerts a pressure equivalent to one atmosphere, or 14.7 psi. WETSUIT: Any suit that provides thermal protection underwater by trapping a layer of water between the diver's skin and the suit. WHEEL: A dive table used to plan multilevel dives. WORK OF BREATHING: The amount of effort required to inhale and exhale through a Scuba regulator. Work of Breathing can be applied to any type of breathing system, open circuit or rebreather. The number one criteria for selecting a regulator is its ease of breathing. |
